Premix Details

FeedComp on PULSE allows you to view or edit the details of a premix. To access this feature, open the Recipes page, click the Premixes tab to view all available premixes, and then click the Details link at the top right of a premix card.

Follow the guidelines below when working with premix details:

1. View Premix Details

   • Premix Details: Details about the premix are displayed at the top of the page.

     The following information is displayed at the top of the Premix Details page:

     • DM/HD: The dry matter The dry weight of an ingredient with no mositure (DM The dry weight of an ingredient with no mositure) amount per head for the premix.
     • AF/HD: The as-fed (AF As fed) amount per head for the premix.
     • DM%: The dry matter percentage for the premix.
     • AF Cost/Ton: The as-fed (AF) unit cost per ton for the premix.
     • AF Cost/HD: The as-fed (AF) unit cost per head for the premix.
     • Density Factor: How much of the premix can be loaded into the equipment based on weight and bulk. Click here to learn more!
     • Active/Inactive: Icons indicate whether the premix is active or inactive . See Deactivate or Reactivate Premixes to deactivate or reactivate premixes.
   • Premix Composition: A color-coded summary of the ingredient types in the premix. Click here to learn more about ingredient types!
   • Edit Premix: Click Edit Premix at the top right of the page to open the side panel and update information for the premix. See Edit Premix for more information.
   • Premix Directions: A list of ingredients that have been added to the premix are displayed in the Premix Directions table.

     Follow the guidelines below when working with premix directions:

     • Seq: The order the ingredients are loaded into the equipment. You can change the order if necessary. See Adjust Ingredient Order to learn more!
     • Ingredient: The name of the ingredient. You can click the name of the ingredient to open the Ingredient Details side panel and view more information.
     • Location: The name of the location where the ingredient is currently stored. You can select a different location if necessary.
     • DM Amount: The dry matter amount for the ingredient. You can click the edit icon to update the amount if necessary.
     • DM %: The dry matter percentage for the ingredient.
     • AF Amount: The target and the as-fed amounts for the ingredient. You can click the edit icon to update the amount if necessary.
     • Time Delay: How long to delay after this ingredient is added before loading more ingredients into the equipment. You can select a different duration of time if necessary. See Add a Time Delay when Mixing Ingredients to learn more.
     • Delete Ingredient: Click the delete icon to remove an ingredient from the premix. See Remove Ingredients from a Premix to learn more.
     • Add Ingredient: Select each ingredient you want to add to the premix in Add Ingredient. See Add Ingredients to a Premix to learn more.
     • Reset and Save: If changes were made to the premix, click Reset to discard or Save to accept your changes.
2. Edit Premix

   Click Edit Premix at the top right of the page. The Edit Premix side panel opens. From here, you can change the premix details, and:

   • Deactivate Premix
   • Reactivate Premix

   TIP: Don't see the premix? Click Filters at the top left of the page and then check the Show Inactive box to view all available premixes in the list.
3. Deactivate or Reactivate Premixes

   Deactivate Premix

   1. Click Edit Premix at the top right of the page. The Edit Premix side panel opens.
   2. Click the Active Premix toggle to deactivate the premix.
   3. Click Save at the bottom right of the side panel.

   NOTE: A premix used in a feeding cannot be deactivated, but you can remove the premix from the feeding and then deactivate it. See Feedings for more information.

   Reactivate Premix

   1. Open the Recipes page.
   2. Click the Premixes tab to view all available premixes.
   3. Click Filters at the top left of the page.
   4. Check the Show Inactive box to view all available premixes in the list.
   5. Click the Details link at the top right of a premix card to view the premix's details. The Premix Details page opens.
   6. Click Edit Premix at the top right of the page. The Edit Premix side panel opens.
   7. Click the Active Premix toggle to activate the premix.
   8. Click Save at the bottom right of the side panel.
3. Edit Ingredients

   Click Edit Ingredients at the top right of the page. The Premix Directions become editable. From here, you can:

   • Adjust Ingredient Order
   • Add a Time Delay when Mixing Ingredients
   • Remove Ingredients from a Premix
   • Add Ingredients to a Premix
4. Adjust Ingredient Order

   To adjust the ingredient mixing order for a premix:

   1. Click Edit Ingredients at the top right of the page. The Premix Directions become editable.
   2. In the Premix Directions table, use the handle on the left side of an item to drag and drop it to a new position in the list.
   3. Click Save at the bottom right of the table.
5. Add a Time Delay when Mixing Ingredients

   1. Click Edit Ingredients at the top right of the page. The Premix Directions become editable.
   2. In the Time Delay column of the table, select how long to delay after this ingredient is added before loading more ingredients into the equipment.
   3. Click Save at the bottom right of the table.
6. Remove Ingredients from a Premix

   1. Click Edit Ingredients at the top right of the page. The Premix Directions become editable.
   2. Click the delete icon in the Premix Directions table to remove an ingredient from the premix.
   3. Click Save at the bottom right of the table.

   NOTE: The last ingredient in a premix cannot be deleted.
7. Add Ingredients to a Premix

   1. Click Edit Ingredients at the top right of the page. The Premix Directions become editable.
   2. Select each ingredient you want to add to the premix in Add Ingredient at the bottom left of the Premix Directions table.
   3. Complete the following information for each ingredient added to the premix:
      • Location: Select the name of the location where the ingredient is currently stored.
      • DM Amount: Click the edit icon to edit the ingredient's dry matter (DM) amount.
      • AF Amount: Click the edit icon to edit the ingredient's as-fed (AF) amount.
      • Time Delay: Select the amount of time FeedComp should wait before loading more ingredients after this ingredient is added.
   4. Click Save at the bottom right of the table.
8. View Feedings Using a Premix

   View all feedings using the premix in the Feedings using this Premix table at the bottom of the page. Follow the guidelines below when working with the feedings list:

   • Feeding Name: The name of the feeding. You can click the name of the feeding to open the Feeding Details side panel and view more information.
   • Pens: The pen number for each pen assigned to the feeding in a color-coded label. When more than 2 pens are assigned to a feeding, a number is displayed that indicates how many additional pens are assigned to the feeding. Hover over the number to see the additional pens assigned.
   • AF Amount: The target and the as-fed amounts for the premix.
   • Equipment Name: The name of the equipment used for the premix.
