Inventory

Follow the guidelines below when working with inventory:

1. Search and Filter the Inventory List

   Options to search and filter the inventory list are available at the top of the page. Follow the guidelines below when working with the inventory list:

   • Click Filters at the top left of the page to limit the data that is displayed. The Filters side panel opens.
   • Type text in the Ingredient Name field to search the list of ingredients by name.
   • Select an Ingredient Type to limit the list to a specific type of ingredient. Multiple types can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for ingredients by name
   • Select a Location to limit the list to a specific location. Multiple locations can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for locations by name.
   • Days until run out Write
   • Active inventory are displayed by default. Check the Show Inactive box to view all available inventory in the list.
   • Click the Clear Filters option to clear all of the filters currently applied.
2. Create New Inventory

   TIP: If you need to add a premix, see the steps in Inventory.

   Click Add Inventory at the top right of the page to open the Inventory Builder and enter information for the inventory. Follow the steps below to continue:

   1. Enter the Inventory Name. The name entered must be unique and cannot match the name of existing inventory.
   2. Enter the Density Factor to indicate how much of the inventory can be loaded into the equipment based on weight and bulk:
      • A density factor that is lower than 100% indicates recipes A combination of ingredients used to make feed for animals with ingredients that are lighter in weight but take up a lot of space (like dry hay). They will fill the mixer A piece of farm equipment that mixes all the loaded ingredients for a feed recipe. Mobile mixers are most common, but stationary mixers also exist.'s available space before they reach its maximum weight capacity.
      • A density factor that is higher than 100% indicates recipes with ingredients that are more compact and heavy (like a Premix recipe A combination of ingredients used to make feed for animals, which is typically dense if it does not have forages in the recipe). They will reach the mixer's maximum weight capacity even though they do not fill all of its available space.
   3. Click Next.
   4. Select each ingredient you want to add to the inventory in Add Ingredient.
   5. To change the load order of an ingredient in the inventory, use the handle on the left side of an item to drag and drop it to a new position in the list.
   6. Complete the following information for each ingredient added to the inventory:
      • Location: Select the name of the location where the ingredient is currently stored.
      • DM Amount: Click the edit icon to edit the ingredient's dry matter The dry weight of an ingredient with no mositure (DM The dry weight of an ingredient with no mositure) amount.
      • AF Amount: Click the edit icon to edit the ingredient's as-fed (AF As fed) amount.
      • Time Delay: Select the amount of time FeedComp should wait before loading more ingredients after this ingredient is added.
   7. Click Add Inventory at the bottom right of the page.
3. View Inventory Cards

   Follow the guidelines below when viewing inventory cards:

   • Details: Click the Details link at the top right of a inventory card to View or Edit Inventory Details.
   • Recipe DM%: The dry matter percentage for the inventory.
   • Density Factor: How much of the inventory can be loaded into the equipment based on weight and bulk. Click here to learn more!
   • AF Cost/Ton: The as-fed (AF) unit cost per ton for the inventory.
4. View or Edit Inventory Details

   Click the Details link at the top right of a inventory card to view or edit the inventory's details. The Inventory Details page opens. See Recipe Details for more information.

Follow the guidelines below when working with transactions:

1. Search and Filter the Transactions List

   Options to search and filter the transactions list are available at the top of the page. Follow the guidelines below when working with the transactions list:

   • Click Filters at the top left of the page to limit the data that is displayed. The Filters side panel opens.
   • Select a Transaction Type to limit the list to a specific type of transactions. Multiple types can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for transactions by name.
   • Select an Ingredient to limit the list to a specific ingredient. Multiple ingredients can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for ingredients by name.
   • Select a Location to limit the list to a specific location. Multiple locations can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for locations by name.
   • Select a Vendor to limit the list to a specific vendor. Multiple vendors can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for vendors by name.
   • Click the Clear Filters option to clear all of the filters currently applied.
2. Create New Transactions

   Click Add Transaction at the top right of the page to open the side panel and enter information for the transaction. Follow the steps below to continue:

   1. Enter the Transaction Name. The name entered must be unique and cannot match the name of existing transaction.
   2. Enter the Density Factor to indicate how much of the transaction can be loaded into the equipment based on weight and bulk:
      • A density factor that is lower than 100% indicates recipes with ingredients that are lighter in weight but take up a lot of space (like dry hay). They will fill the mixer's available space before they reach its maximum weight capacity.
      • A density factor that is higher than 100% indicates recipes with ingredients that are more compact and heavy (like a Premix recipe, which is typically dense if it does not have forages in the recipe). They will reach the mixer's maximum weight capacity even though they do not fill all of its available space.
   3. Click Next.
   4. Select each ingredient you want to add to the transaction in Add Ingredient.
   5. To change the load order of an ingredient in the transaction, use the handle on the left side of an item to drag and drop it to a new position in the list.
   6. Complete the following information for each ingredient added to the transaction:
      • Location: Select the name of the location where the ingredient is currently stored.
      • DM Amount: Click the edit icon to edit the ingredient's dry matter (DM) amount.
      • AF Amount: Click the edit icon to edit the ingredient's as-fed (AF) amount.
      • Time Delay: Select the amount of time FeedComp should wait before loading more ingredients after this ingredient is added.
   7. Click Add Transactions at the bottom right of the page.
3. View Transaction Cards

   Follow the guidelines below when viewing transaction cards:

   • Details: Click the Details link at the top right of a transaction card to View or Edit Inventory Details.

1. Search and Filter the Vendors List

   Options to search and filter the vendors list are available at the top of the page. Follow the guidelines below when working with the vendors list:

   • Click Filters at the top left of the page to limit the data that is displayed. The Filters side panel opens.
   • Type text in the Vendor field to search the list of vendor by name.
   • Select an Ingredient to limit the list to a specific ingredient. Multiple ingredients can be selected. You can also type text directly in the field to search for ingredients by name.
   • Active vendors are displayed by default. Check the Show Inactive box to view all available vendors in the list. Icons indicate whether the vendor is active or inactive .
   • Click the Clear Filters option to clear all of the filters currently applied.
2. Create New Vendor

   Click Add Vendor at the top right of the page to open the side panel and enter information for the vendor. Follow the steps below to continue:

   1. Enter the Vendor Name. The name entered must be unique and cannot match the name of existing vendor.
   2. In Address, enter the business address for the vendor.
   3. In Phone Number, enter the telephone number where the vendor can be contacted.
   4. In Note, include any additional notes about the vendor.
   5. Select each ingredient you want to assign to the vendor under Select Ingredients.

      • Type text in the Search field to search the list of ingredients by name.
      • Multiple ingredients can be assigned to the vendor.
      • Click Add New Ingredient to open the side panel and assign a new ingredient to the vendor. See Create New Ingredient to learn more about adding ingredients.
3. View Vendor Details

   Click on a Vendor Name in the table to open the side panel and view its details. Follow the guidelines below when viewing vendor details:

   • Address: The business address for the vendor.
   • Phone Number: The telephone number where the vendor can be contacted.
   • Note: Any additional notes about the vendor.
   • Under Ingredients, view the ingredients currently assigned to the vendor.

     • Type text in the Search field to search the list of ingredients by name.
     • Multiple ingredients can be assigned to the vendor. See to learn more.
     • The ingredient type is displayed in a color-coded label.

       • Dry Forage: Vegetative material, such as stems, leaves, and stalks of plants, in a dried state that is used for feed.
       • Fresh Forages: A crop of cultivated plants or plant parts that are grazed or harvested as feed.
       • Silage: Preserved forage for feed, like pasture grass, alfalfa, grains, and corn, that is produced by fermenting plant matter.
       • Energy: High-calorie feed, such as corn, sorghum, barley, and wheat.
       • Protein: High-protein feed, such as soy and canola.
       • Vitamins and Minerals: Supplements added to feed to prevent deficiencies in dairy cows that can impact health and milk production.
       • Additives: Products added to feed to enhance feed quality, make the feed more digestible, and improve health and performance.
       • Weighback: Feed leftover from a prior feeding that can be added to a recipe and help reduce waste.
       • Water: Water added to a feed mixture to improve daily milk yield.
     • Click the arrow on the right side of an ingredient to View Ingredient Details.
4. Edit, Deactivate, or Reactivate Vendors

   Edit Vendor

   1. Click on a Vendor Name in the table to open the side panel.
   2. Click the Options button at the top right of the side panel, and then select Edit Vendor. The Edit Vendor side panel opens.
   3. Update the information in the side panel as needed. See View Vendor Details to learn more about the information displayed in the side panel.
   4. Click Save at the bottom right of the side panel.

   Deactivate Vendor

   1. Click on a Vendor Name in the table to open the side panel.
   2. Click the Options button at the top right of the side panel, and then select Deactivate Vendor. A confirmation message is displayed.
   3. Click Delete.

   Reactivate Vendor

   1. Click Filters at the top left of the page.
   2. Check the Show Inactive box to view all available vendors in the list.
   3. Click on a Vendor Name in the table to open the side panel.
   4. Click the Options button at the top right of the side panel, and then select Activate Vendor. A confirmation message is displayed.
      NOTE: Activate Vendor is only available for deactivated vendors.
   5. Click Yes to confirm the activation.
